looking vampires we've ever seen in a movie. That final showdown between Dees and Renfield, when the vampire finally shows the reporter his true face, will make you shudder. I highly recommend this movie to fans of the

Although advertised as Uncut there may be some controversial scenes absent from this Blu-ray release. This includes a scene where Britt Ekland disrobes, gets into bed with Mark Lester and cuddles with him. Thanks to Braintree:
The scene in question is included in the Blu-ray but after it starts the old footage showing the section where Ekland gets into bed with Lester - and she's clearly naked - has a montage placed over that bit although the
soundtrack continues just as it does in the full version. The original US VHS was the drastically shortened version and was not very good quality. Substance went onto release a DVD with 2 versions on. One was the short version and
the other was the most complete version ever and includes the controversial moments missing from the Blu-ray although both versions on the DVD are very obviously transferred from a domestic tape source. Once I alerted VCI to the
missing footage the guy in charge did confirm that they had searched high and low for the best possible source and while the Blu-ray doesn't look as good as a regular 35mm film would, its the first time the film has looked anything close to being
official. It's still worth getting for it's notoriety but a shame that VCI didn't look at the DVD beforehand - they could then at least have added the footage albeit in far lesser quality. As its a Limited Edition and unlikely to
appear elsewhere, you should get it while you can if you have the slightest interest in it.

Night of the Bloody Apes is a 1969 Mexican horror by Rene Cordona Jr. With José Elías Moreno, Carlos López Moctezuma and Armando Silvestre.
A heavily censored version was released in Mexico whilst it was distributed
worldwide in an International Version with added sex and violence. The International Version was cut by the BBFC for 1974 cinema release. The uncut version was later banned as a Video Nasty in 1983. The heavily cut Mexican Version was released in
1999. The International Version was finally passed 18 uncut by the BBFC in 2012. Uncut and R rated in the US. Summary Review: Pretty Grim A mad scientist attempts to cure his son's leukemia by doing the
first ape-to-human heart transplant. He decides to put a gorilla's heart into the lad and orders his flunky to prepare the gorilla! . There is actual footage of a graphic open heart surgery inserted in the ape operation scenes. This of
course causes the boy to turn into a big stinky man-ape... The film is a very cheap Mexican 'horror' and it is pretty grim. And really most of the film is so comic book and likeable, dammit, that you can forgive the rather shoddy
idea of using said transplant footage as a main point of sale. People say that really bad films are funny to watch because they are so bad. I have only found this to be the case with one film before now, Death Wish 3, but now
Night Of The Bloody Apes has become one of my pet films. A desert island treasure.

UK: In 1993 there was a mysterious uncut Vipco version. It was nominally slated as pre-cut but somehow got a limited unsanctioned uncut release. It was withdrawn within days. Thanks to Adrian: Withdrawn Within Days
I can elaborate slightly on the Vipco release. I remember a piece in the Darkside saying that if you bought the video in July (1993) it would be uncut, this was a couple of months after they reviewed the cut version, I
expected it to be re-released cut but I don't think it ever was. I spent a couple of years trying to track one down without success, I was told it was never released although I still believe it was albeit briefly. I finally picked
up a review copy a couple of years later; from the outside it looks like the other Vipco releases of the time but has release details etc on the inside of the insert, and a computer printed (dot matrix) label. The film has an on-screen clock running
throughout and is cut to ribbons; I think it ran a few seconds longer than the Satanica release but I couldn't vouch for this. It has an official BBFC 18 certificate despite the BBFC website not having an 18 for this film until 1999. The release details
inside the sleeve list the release date as 26th July 1993 so it was withdrawn within days. This is the only copy I have ever seen on Vipco and I've never even met anyone who's seen another, I reckon the old Iver pre-cert is probably easier to find than
this.

- 42 minutes - After the green-dress wearing female has been ravaged in the park it cuts to the professor and his assistant pulling up and taking the body of another girl out of their car. We then cut back to the green-dress woman
getting up with bushes all over her and looking around. The IVER tape misses out the doctor in the car as well as the green-dressed female recovering from the ordeal - approx 1 minute.
- 74 minutes - There is an extra brief shot
in the DVD of the monster running off to the left after he takes the heroine down to the floor in the park. In this shot, you can see the studio and a ladder at the corner of the screen - approx 10 seconds.

In the Director's Cut the camera zooms back after the kiss between Chris and Cynthia revealing a fire still burning and attended by fire fighters. A burnt and injured Ray Cameron comes into view as he falls down to the ground. His head bursts
open with worms creeping away. They scurry to a cemetary and the camera follows as lights illuminate the appearing spaceship in the sky. In the Theatrical Version the camera follows down the bodies of the kissing couple and the dog appears. Cynthia
noticing him goes down on her knees saying (hey you) and gets frightened because of a worm jumping out of the dog's mouth onto the camera.

Thanks to Tony and Graeme who discussed the editing of the film after Horror Channel broadcasts in January and May 2021. Tony reported on suspicious looking editing: When the detective is approaching the car where
the female has been attacked, the detective is briefly shown holding severed hand. It's badly cut, can't see him pick it up or drop it (magically disappears and without context).
Graeme replied: The
showing in the early hours of Monday morning was definitely not a TV version. It was the uncut theatrical cut. The scene mentioned on the site of supposed cuts was part of a dream sequence so was edited according to "dream logic". Yes, Tom
Atkins is suddenly holding a severed hand, and when it cuts back to him he's holding a shotgun but nothing has been cut here, it's part of a dream. I compared the scene to the region 1 DVD and it's exactly the same. All the gore, swearing and nudity were
present in the Horror Channel showing last night.

Another film that is something like an urban legend: being banned in countries like Germany or Norway and also very hard to find. The reputation of Night of the Demon is much more interesting than the movie itself!
The story is simple: a professor and some students travel to the dark forests to investigate some cruel murders which were caused by a Bigfoot-like monster that looks like Chewbacca from Star Wars . A feeble minded woman who
lives in a lonely hut plays an important role in the solution of the mystery. Well, the acting is bad, the F/X are pretty cheesy and only the many murders featured in this flick will keep you away from falling asleep!
These deaths however are pretty are gory and violent, so fans of splatter movies won't be disappointed! Versions

and taken over one by one. Now it's a battle for who can survive and cross over the stream before going to hell.... Rated as something of a B movie gem. A good mix of suspense, humour and horror, something along the lines of Evil
Dead. Good special effects and notable contributions from Linnea Quigley and Amelia Kinkade.

reunited and Major Grau continues his investigation. Meanwhile, a plan for killing Hitler is plotted by his high command; a romance between Ulrike von Seydlitz-Gabler and Lance Cpl. Kurt Hartmann is happening and Insp. Morand is helping Major Grau in his

UK Amazon : High Body Count Night Screams like a
typical teen slasher movie in which you watch to do the body count. And the body count in this flick reaches double digits.
As if that is not enough, the film started with this ill fated couple watching a horror film in which nubile females are
offed by a fencing sword. Perhaps they are going for triple digits?
Anyway, basically, David, the high school football hero who have to take medication for hyperactivity decided to invite some friends over to his parent's palatial home when they
went out to dinner (and it must be a loooooong dinner). And guess what, someone started to knock off the party goers, and in true slasher fashion, everything on the list is used: axe to head, electrocution, poison gas, strangulation, plastic bag
suffocation...and yes, even the reliable knife in the back. And of course, in between killings, we get to watch David's parents wine and dine and started to get suspicious when they couldn't get through to the house via telephone.
Ultimately,
Night Screams is standard fare....the acting is average (okay, so it is not Shakespeare), the gore effects is okay. But it is not a scary movie, it is very predictable and you know when somebody is about to "get it". But if you are in for a
film with a high body count, this one is it. |

but Night Train Murders is the better of the two. Good production values, excellent cinematography, an Ennio Morricone score, decent acting and a tight script . The first third
of the film introduces the main characters, most of whom seem to be prone to indulging in one perversion or another. The "defilement" section of the film is a gripping, harrowing affair that escalates in
viciousness before climaxing in a very brutal fashion. The final act does not live up to the scenes that precede it. The director's desire to keep from glamorizing violence is probably why the ending feels

her nights are troubled by horrible dreams in which she sees her mother, who is in fact locked in an insane asylum, haunting her. Expelled because of her persistent nightmares, Janet is sent home where the nightmares continue. This is one of the best of Hammer's horror/thrillers. It is more than likely overlooked because it does not have an major stars in it.
Imaginative production, courtesy of Hammer regulars Freddie Francis and Jimmy Sangster, makes it a compelling mystery oozing with a Gothic atmosphere.

radiation lands, and blood drinking zombies emerge armed with knives, guns and teeth! They go on a rampage slicing, dicing, and biting their way across the Italian countryside. Undeniably trashy though this film is, it delivers
the funtime groceries in spades. We have copious amounts of zombie action tarted up with wonderfully gratuitous topless shots and barking mad dialogue. Action highlights include an attack on the TV station that results in the
wholesale slaughter of a troop of appalling workout dancers jumping about in leotards. As well as exploitative breast baring this scene has some great gory violence as our prancing fools are sliced up. The music by Stelvio
Cipriani is also wonderful stuff. Filled with those familiar bass beats and electronic goodness that is uniquely Italian. Films like this exist for one reason only (well two if you count making money) and that's to entertain, and
entertain is what Nightmare City certainly does. Simply and unpretentiously as only 80's Italian exploitation cinema can.

smartass. Freddy is hideously burned, covered in scar tissue and has all the fashion sense of a wino, but he's cool. Not content to simply disembowel his screaming victims, Freddy has to tease them a little first, flirting, humiliating or showing off.

Thanks to Dave: I recently watched the 2 disc box set of A Nightmare on Elm Street which they say is cut to the death of the girl Tina via a blood splash as she hits the bed. The scene plays out on R2 Turkish
release. When Tina hits the bed we see the blood spurt all over her shocked boyfriend Rod. A pretty tame and lame MPAA cut by any standards to make an R and obviously it never offended Turkish censors for this new uncut DVD release! The A geyser of blood

What makes A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 a great sequel is that it has a lot of good horror scenes such as Freddy turning into a snake and trying to eat Kristen (Patricia Arquette), and it also has good suspense, and even a sense
of adventure.

The film delivers some deliciously creative deaths and witty repartee a la Krueger. It bolsters and redefines the balance between what has been and what will be, keeping the series fresh while maintaining the overall continuity.

Cut by the BBFC for X rated 1982 cinema release. Famously banned as a video nasty with the distributor being jailed. A cut US R rated version was released in the UK for an 18 rated 2002 DVD. The most complete version is distributed by
88 Films in the UK (BBFC 18 rated) and Severin in the US (MPAA Unrated). An uncut version, or as near as dammit, was released in the UK in November 2015 but was soon withdrawn presumably for a lack of BBFC paperwork. However the BBFC certificate was
published shortly after and the DVD went back on sale. Summary Review: Great Slasher Movie A mental-patient, who is troubled with horrible nightmares, has escaped from his hospital. Now on the streets
he can't help killing innocent people. But there is one family he is more than interested in and when he tries to kill them, he finds that it's not that easy. An underrated and under recognized slasher film of the early
1980s. The plot is very interesting and is not at all a typical "slasher by numbers" flick, and is not predictable. There gore is pretty insane and gruesome, and Tom Savini was the make-up effects consultant.
There is a tense, uneasy feeling throughout the film, and some very memorable scenes showing how disturbed the killer is, like the part at the peep show in NYC where he gets so aroused he has a seizure. Pretty crazy stuff.

Thanks to Simon and Braintree: The Code Red DVD and BD truncated the scene where a young boy finds a dead girls body in an abandoned house and is subsequently grabbed from
behind by the killer. Instead it cuts just as you see the shadow moving behind then you hear him scream off camera. Some of those missing seconds have been restored by 88 Films, but not quite all of them. This scene is on the old Dutch VHS, but that version misses some dialogue out from elsewhere. So, a truly complete version of the uncut print is difficult to find.

of detainees arrives at a remote women's prison. The fortress-like prison is ruled with an iron hand by Thelma Diaz (Mercedes McCambridge), a woman who has no qualms against death or torture. But when a new state official takes notice of the body count
coming out of the prison, Diaz must prove her ability and hide the truth. As the powers that be turn up the pressure it sets up a daring escape by several of the ladies.
"Women in prison" flicks can be a mixed bag. Many offer the usual
softcore action (usually of the lesbian variety) and / or nasty torture sequences that often exploit. But 99 Women doesn't really offer too much of either. 99 is actually more artistic than most of the "W.I.P." films that I've
seen and as a result it comes off as a bit bland. The photography is fine but with most of the action taking place indoors the camera-work is not flashy. The acting is pretty decent but the script is a bit "talky" in an unnecessary way.
The softcore action is not awfully titillating since many of the scenes are shot in an "artistic" fashion the X-rated version does offer some hardcore inserts but you can easily tell they were added much latter since
they don't match. "99 Women" has some style but not a lot of substance. A bit disappointing. Versions

California gubernatorial race, seem to signal the end of his career. Yet, although wholly lacking in charisma, Nixon remains a brilliant political operator, seizing the opportunity provided by the backlash against the antiwar movement to take the
Presidency in 1968. It is only when safely in office, running far ahead in the polls for the 1972 Presidential election, that his growing paranoia comes to full flower, triggering the Watergate scandal.
