During the fight in a bar towards the beginning of the film - when Seagal is searching for his niece - 6 secs of Seagal twice slamming his fist into a thugs nose has been removed.
Just after the bar fight, before Seagal kicks down the door,
a shot of the young couple in bed heating drugs was removed.
In the finale, when Seagal briefly fights Henry Silva, a 4 sec shot of Seagal breaking Silva's arm - with a loud crunch - has been removed, but the subsequent neck break seems intact.
The film was originally shown uncut on Sky TV but seems to have now been replaced with a censored version.

I loved The Night Flier . This movie has it all in spades: sleazy characters deeply developed, a massively scary vampire, and gore ramped up to insane levels. Miguel Ferrer slams it out of the park as the cynical, world-weary Richard Dees, a journalist so fed up with the nightmares of humanity that he formulates the personal philosophy
Never publish what you believe, and never believe what you publish in order to keep his emotional distance.
The picture succeeds because King, and by extension the filmmakers, rework the vampire mythos in a fresh
way. This story rightly equates trash media with vampirism, and you never know who the real blood feeder is in the film.
Aside from the social messages in the film, The Night Flier also boasts one of the scariest
looking vampires we've ever seen in a movie. That final showdown between Dees and Renfield, when the vampire finally shows the reporter his true face, will make you shudder.
I highly recommend this movie to fans of the
vampire film genre. Heck, I recommend this film to anyone who wants to watch a genuinely scary film. The Night Flier is an unmitigated winner.

Although advertised as Uncut there may be some controversial scenes absent from this Blu-ray release. This includes a scene where Britt Ekland disrobes, gets into bed with Mark Lester and cuddles with him.

The scene in question is included in the Blu-ray but after it starts the old footage showing the section where Ekland gets into bed with Lester - and she's clearly naked - has a montage placed over that bit although the
soundtrack continues just as it does in the full version.
The original US VHS was the drastically shortened version and was not very good quality. Substance went onto release a DVD with 2 versions on. One was the short version and
the other was the most complete version ever and includes the controversial moments missing from the Blu-ray although both versions on the DVD are very obviously transferred from a domestic tape source.
Once I alerted VCI to the
missing footage the guy in charge did confirm that they had searched high and low for the best possible source and while the Blu-ray doesn't look as good as a regular 35mm film would, its the first time the film has looked anything close to being
official.
It's still worth getting for it's notoriety but a shame that VCI didn't look at the DVD beforehand - they could then at least have added the footage albeit in far lesser quality. As its a Limited Edition and unlikely to
appear elsewhere, you should get it while you can if you have the slightest interest in it.

Summary Review: Pretty Grim
A mad scientist attempts to cure his son's leukemia by doing the
first ape-to-human heart transplant. He decides to put a gorilla's heart into the lad and orders his flunky to prepare the gorilla! . There is actual footage of a graphic open heart surgery inserted in the ape operation scenes. This of
course causes the boy to turn into a big stinky man-ape...
The film is a very cheap Mexican 'horror' and it is pretty grim. And really most of the film is so comic book and likeable, dammit, that you can forgive the rather shoddy
idea of using said transplant footage as a main point of sale.
People say that really bad films are funny to watch because they are so bad. I have only found this to be the case with one film before now, Death Wish 3, but now
Night Of The Bloody Apes has become one of my pet films. A desert island treasure.

I can elaborate slightly on the Vipco release. I remember a piece in the Darkside saying that if you bought the video in July (1993) it would be uncut, this was a couple of months after they reviewed the cut version, I
expected it to be re-released cut but I don't think it ever was.
I spent a couple of years trying to track one down without success, I was told it was never released although I still believe it was albeit briefly. I finally picked
up a review copy a couple of years later; from the outside it looks like the other Vipco releases of the time but has release details etc on the inside of the insert, and a computer printed (dot matrix) label. The film has an on-screen clock running
throughout and is cut to ribbons; I think it ran a few seconds longer than the Satanica release but I couldn't vouch for this. It has an official BBFC 18 certificate despite the BBFC website not having an 18 for this film until 1999. The release details
inside the sleeve list the release date as 26th July 1993 so it was withdrawn within days. This is the only copy I have ever seen on Vipco and I've never even met anyone who's seen another, I reckon the old Iver pre-cert is probably easier to find than
this.

42 minutes - After the green-dress wearing female has been ravaged in the park it cuts to the professor and his assistant pulling up and taking the body of another girl out of their car. We then cut back to the green-dress woman
getting up with bushes all over her and looking around. The IVER tape misses out the doctor in the car as well as the green-dressed female recovering from the ordeal - approx 1 minute.
74 minutes - There is an extra brief shot
in the DVD of the monster running off to the left after he takes the heroine down to the floor in the park. In this shot, you can see the studio and a ladder at the corner of the screen - approx 10 seconds.
These scenes were restored on later DVD releases.

In 1999 the video was released on the Satanica label, in a version that was obviously taken from Vipco's planned cut version (Vipco's logo remains). This time the Mexican Version removes every single violent scene. Strangely the scene where the doctor
assistant is killed contains several shots of a completely different character being killed, whose demise doesn't happen until a few scenes later in the film.

open with worms creeping away. They scurry to a cemetary and the camera follows as lights illuminate the appearing spaceship in the sky.
In the Theatrical Version the camera follows down the bodies of the kissing couple and the dog appears. Cynthia
noticing him goes down on her knees saying (hey you) and gets frightened because of a worm jumping out of the dog's mouth onto the camera.

Summary Review: Cheap
Another film that is something like an urban legend: being banned in countries like Germany or Norway and also very hard to find. The reputation of Night of the Demon is much more interesting than the movie itself!
The story is simple: a professor and some students travel to the dark forests to investigate some cruel murders which were caused by a Bigfoot-like monster that looks like Chewbacca from Star Wars . A feeble minded woman who
lives in a lonely hut plays an important role in the solution of the mystery.
Well, the acting is bad, the F/X are pretty cheesy and only the many murders featured in this flick will keep you away from falling asleep!
These deaths however are pretty are gory and violent, so fans of splatter movies won't be disappointed!

In 1942 Warsaw, a Polish prostitute is murdered in a sadistic way. Major Grau, an agent from
German Intelligence who believes in justice, is in charge of the investigation. An eyewitness saw a German general leaving the building after a scream of the victim. A further investigation shows that three generals do not have any alibi for that night:
General Tanz, Maj. Gen. Klus Kahlenberge and General von Seidlitz-Gabler. The three avoid direct contact with Major Grau and become potential suspects. As Major Grau gets close to them, he is promoted and sent to Paris. In 1944 Paris, this quartet is
reunited and Major Grau continues his investigation. Meanwhile, a plan for killing Hitler is plotted by his high command; a romance between Ulrike von Seydlitz-Gabler and Lance Cpl. Kurt Hartmann is happening and Insp. Morand is helping Major Grau in his
investigation. The story ends in 1965, in Hamburg, with another, similar crime.

Summary Review : Groundbreaking
As with any other
horror genre, the groundbreaking zombie movie is the best. Night of the Living Dead is a cult gem that has inspired every zombie movie after it, with its low-budget look and cast of excellent, unknown actors. And, of course, the flesh-eating
undead who are rising to kill the living.
Originally filmed in murky black-and-white, Romero manages to make this film feel creepy even when the zombies aren't there. Creepy, innovative and bizarre.

The Contender Entertainment Group Special Collector's Edition (steel case, 2005) is extensively Restored & Re-mastered. However it appears to be missing several sequences
including most of the cannibalism scenes following the attack on the car, as well as heavily reducing the trowel murder from 14 blows to 3. Strange, as this version did have input from Romero himself.
The Anchor Bay box set with the 30th

Night Screams like a
typical teen slasher movie in which you watch to do the body count. And the body count in this flick reaches double digits.
As if that is not enough, the film started with this ill fated couple watching a horror film in which nubile females are
offed by a fencing sword. Perhaps they are going for triple digits?
Anyway, basically, David, the high school football hero who have to take medication for hyperactivity decided to invite some friends over to his parent's palatial home when they
went out to dinner (and it must be a loooooong dinner). And guess what, someone started to knock off the party goers, and in true slasher fashion, everything on the list is used: axe to head, electrocution, poison gas, strangulation, plastic bag
suffocation...and yes, even the reliable knife in the back. And of course, in between killings, we get to watch David's parents wine and dine and started to get suspicious when they couldn't get through to the house via telephone.
Ultimately,
Night Screams is standard fare....the acting is average (okay, so it is not Shakespeare), the gore effects is okay. But it is not a scary movie, it is very predictable and you know when somebody is about to "get it". But if you are in for a
film with a high body count, this one is it.

Summary Review: Decent Acting
T his film borrowed heavily from Last House on the Left ,
but Night Train Murders is the better of the two. Good production values, excellent cinematography, an Ennio Morricone score, decent acting and a tight script .
The first third
of the film introduces the main characters, most of whom seem to be prone to indulging in one perversion or another.
The "defilement" section of the film is a gripping, harrowing affair that escalates in
viciousness before climaxing in a very brutal fashion.
The final act does not live up to the scenes that precede it. The director's desire to keep from glamorizing violence is probably why the ending feels
somewhat restrained.

A community of mutant outcasts of varying types and abilities attempts to escape the attention of a psychotic serial killer and redneck vigilantes with the help of a brooding young man who discovers
them. Based on the novel "Cabal" by Clive Barker.
The original 126 minute version of Nightbreed was cut down to 102 minutes by distributor 20th Century Fox. They felt that this cut was too long and rather too explicit for an R-rated release.
Also, Barker shot additional scenes with David Cronenberg's Decker character to flesh out his mentality. The excised footage consisted of some very graphic gore during the climax, disturbing images in the monsters' lair and quite
a bit of "unnecessary" character development.
There were also some strange sexual themes between the monsters and Boone that wound up on the cutting room floor.

This was an assemblage of restore material that was shown at several film festivals. it is the longest version and the basis for the Director's Cut which

Janet is a young student at a private school;

This is one of the best of Hammer's horror/thrillers. It is more than likely overlooked because it does not have an major stars in it.
Imaginative production, courtesy of Hammer regulars Freddie Francis and Jimmy Sangster, makes it a compelling mystery oozing with a Gothic atmosphere.

Summary Review: Funtime groceries in spades
An airplane exposed to
radiation lands, and blood drinking zombies emerge armed with knives, guns and teeth! They go on a rampage slicing, dicing, and biting their way across the Italian countryside.
Undeniably trashy though this film is, it delivers
the funtime groceries in spades. We have copious amounts of zombie action tarted up with wonderfully gratuitous topless shots and barking mad dialogue.
Action highlights include an attack on the TV station that results in the
wholesale slaughter of a troop of appalling workout dancers jumping about in leotards. As well as exploitative breast baring this scene has some great gory violence as our prancing fools are sliced up.
The music by Stelvio
Cipriani is also wonderful stuff. Filled with those familiar bass beats and electronic goodness that is uniquely Italian.
Films like this exist for one reason only (well two if you count making money) and that's to entertain, and
entertain is what Nightmare City certainly does. Simply and unpretentiously as only 80's Italian exploitation cinema can.

An orphaned teenager finds himself being dominated by his aunt who's hell-bent on keeping him with her...at all costs.
It seems rather strange that the the director of the I Love Lucy TV series could ever
make something on the DPP's list of banned movies, but that's exactly what happened to William Asher's 1981 feature. Despite several undoubtedly shocking scenes this seems particularly unfair, as it is actually a gripping and well made horror thriller,
which was even nominated for a Saturn Award as Best Low Budget Film of the Year.

Review: A new kind of Boogeyman
In the dreams of his victims, a spectral child murderer Freedy Krueger stalks the children of the members of the lynch mob that killed him.
The acting isn't
always the greatest and it looks just the slightest bit dated, but it's still a really damn good movie. It's power lies in the fact that sleep cannot be avoided.
Robert Englund as Freddy is flawless, a new kind of Boogeyman - a
smartass. Freddy is hideously burned, covered in scar tissue and has all the fashion sense of a wino, but he's cool. Not content to simply disembowel his screaming victims, Freddy has to tease them a little first, flirting, humiliating or showing off.

What makes A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 a great sequel is that it has a lot of good horror scenes such as Freddy turning into a snake and trying to eat Kristen (Patricia Arquette), and it also has good suspense, and even a sense
of adventure.

Summary Review: Witty Freddy
Freddy Krueger returns once again to terrorize the dreams of the
remaining Dream Warriors, as well as those of a young woman who may know the way to defeat him for good.
While things may have become a little predictable by the fourth Freddy film, this episode is one of the best of the series.
The film delivers some deliciously creative deaths and witty repartee a la Krueger. It bolsters and redefines the balance between what has been and what will be, keeping the series fresh while maintaining the overall continuity.

Part 4 the series had become the Freddy Krueger show . Basically the character became bigger than the series and so the films became little more than vehicles for his
wisecracks andways of dispatching moronic teens. Part 5 continues the theme.
This film has a brilliantly surreal score and some great-looking imagery, and the silly campness of Part 4 is toned down a little. But it's all just a

88 Films in the UK (BBFC 18 rated) and Severin in the US (MPAA Unrated).
An uncut version, or as near as dammit, was released in the UK in November 2015 but was soon withdrawn presumably for a lack of BBFC paperwork. However the BBFC certificate was
published shortly after and the DVD went back on sale.
Summary Review: Great Slasher Movie
A mental-patient, who is troubled with horrible nightmares, has escaped from his hospital. Now on the streets
he can't help killing innocent people. But there is one family he is more than interested in and when he tries to kill them, he finds that it's not that easy.
An underrated and under recognized slasher film of the early
1980s.
The plot is very interesting and is not at all a typical "slasher by numbers" flick, and is not predictable. There gore is pretty insane and gruesome, and Tom Savini was the make-up effects consultant.
There is a tense, uneasy feeling throughout the film, and some very memorable scenes showing how disturbed the killer is, like the part at the peep show in NYC where he gets so aroused he has a seizure. Pretty crazy stuff.

This scene is on the old Dutch VHS, but that version misses some dialogue out from elsewhere. So, a truly complete version of the uncut print is difficult to find.

Given a boost from the
delightfully manic performance of Stephen Geoffreys, 976-EVIL is a tidy little thriller served up by screenwriter Brian Helgeland and director Robert Freddy Krueger Englund.
Geoffreys plays a nerdish teenager
who gets picked on all the time, a la Carrie White. He finds a vengeance via a telephone service called 976-EVIL which gives him satanic powers to wreak vengeance on those who have wronged him.
While there are some
weaknesses in the plot, 976-EVIL has some chilling moments and Geoffreys is effectively cast. Sandy Dennis also makes an impression as his somewhat eccentric mama.

Summary Notes: A bit disappointing
The newest batch
of detainees arrives at a remote women's prison. The fortress-like prison is ruled with an iron hand by Thelma Diaz (Mercedes McCambridge), a woman who has no qualms against death or torture. But when a new state official takes notice of the body count
coming out of the prison, Diaz must prove her ability and hide the truth. As the powers that be turn up the pressure it sets up a daring escape by several of the ladies.
"Women in prison" flicks can be a mixed bag. Many offer the usual
softcore action (usually of the lesbian variety) and / or nasty torture sequences that often exploit. But 99 Women doesn't really offer too much of either. 99 is actually more artistic than most of the "W.I.P." films that I've
seen and as a result it comes off as a bit bland. The photography is fine but with most of the action taking place indoors the camera-work is not flashy. The acting is pretty decent but the script is a bit "talky" in an unnecessary way.
The softcore action is not awfully titillating since many of the scenes are shot in an "artistic" fashion the X-rated version does offer some hardcore inserts but you can easily tell they were added much latter since
they don't match. "99 Women" has some style but not a lot of substance. A bit disappointing.

Set in the cold war, a Russian scientist trying to defect to the west (via Sweden) with his top secret formula which, so we're led to believe could potentially shift the balance of power to the
Russians if they were able to decipher it. Russians trick him into believing that he has been flown into Sweden where he can complete his work in safety. The CIA resolve to send in a squad of Swedish Ninja to retrieve him from behind enemy lines.
The Ninja Mission has developed a bit of a cult following around the world. In fact one of the highest grossing films Sweden has ever created. The film contains countless slow-motion battles and tones and tones of splatterific blood,
but the ninja often fall back on semi automatic weapons to take care of business rather than the martial arts skills.
Other reviewers place the film in the middling bracket.
A ninja-for-hire is forced into fighting an old nemesis who is bent on overthrowing the Japanese government. His nemesis is also the leader of a group of demons each with superhuman powers.
Ninja Scroll is usually one of the first anime films people see along with Akira and Ghost in the Shell , and with good reason too as it's fantastic!
The plot is very good, it moves along at a sensible
pace with a good balance between dialogue and action and unfolds cleverly, giving the viewer snippets of what's going on along the way and piecing it together thoroughly at the end.
The film fully deserves it's 18 certificate as Ninja Scroll
is very violent and has many other scenes and themes of an adult nature as a warning to those who decide to watch it lightly.
The first cut occurs during the scene where Tessai kills the ninjas in the forest. A scene where all the ninjas simultaneously throw Shurikens at Tessai has been cut.
The next cut occurs during the scene where Tessai sexually assaults
Kagero. He rips off her top and proceeds to lick her breasts, legs, and crotch. She then wakes up and he grabs her throat and says 'Shut up and perhaps I'll let you live just a little bit longer. Don't let it cross your mind that I wouldn't mind raping a
dead girl'
The only other cut is made to a close up of the Poison Shiuriken as it impales Jubei.

The endless fight scenes are expertly choreographed and carried out with a gusto you never saw from the likes of Michael Dudikoff in his American Ninja films -- fights just seem to happen for almost no apparent reason,
rarely advancing the plot or serving any purpose other than ninja action for its own sake. But do we care? Not at all!
Ninja movies can be hit or miss, and this one's a definite hit. It's outrageous,

Director Oliver Stone's exploration of former President Richard Nixon's strict Quaker upbringing, his nascent political strivings in law school, and his strangely self-effacing courtship of his wife, Pat (Joan Allen). The contradictions in his character
are revealed early, in the vicious campaign against Helen Gahagan Douglas and the oddly masochistic Checkers speech. His defeat at the hands of the hated and envied John F. Kennedy in the 1960 presidential election, followed by the loss of the 1962
California gubernatorial race, seem to signal the end of his career. Yet, although wholly lacking in charisma, Nixon remains a brilliant political operator, seizing the opportunity provided by the backlash against the antiwar movement to take the
Presidency in 1968. It is only when safely in office, running far ahead in the polls for the 1972 Presidential election, that his growing paranoia comes to full flower, triggering the Watergate scandal.
