Synopsis This silly, low budget science fiction feature somehow combines Nazisploitaion with spaceships and horror to create a cartoonish romp through a history that never was. When a World War II American military patrol gets lost behind enemy lines in Italy and stumbles upon a crashed alien spacecraft, they quickly come to realise they must join forces with the surviving extra-terrestrials if they are to defeat a Nazi crack team who are hell-bent on using alien technology to win the war. Madcap, fun and charmingly cheap, this daft science fiction potboiler is a must for all collectors of cult 80s movies.

Anthony Perkins builds upon his legendary status as cinema's seminal psycho in Edge of Sanity, a delirious conflation of Robert Louis Stephenson's classic horror novella 'Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde' and Jack the Ripper's real-life reign of terror over Victorian London. When his experiments into a powerful new anaesthetic go hideously awry, respected physician Dr Jekyll (Perkins) takes off into the night, casting aside the shackles of upper-class propriety as he disappears into the shadowy decadent demimonde of Whitechapel in pursuit of sensual pleasures under the guise of 'Mr Hyde'. As his wife Elisabeth (Glynis Barber) passes her time in charitable work, rehabilitating the district's fallen women, Hyde is drawn into an escalating cycle of lust and murder that seems to know no bounds. Produced by exploitation maestro Harry Alan Towers (The Face of Fu Manchu, Count Dracula) and directed with a hallucinogenic intensity by Gérard Kikoïne (Lady Libertine, Buried Alive), Edge of Sanity plunges the viewer into a labyrinth of depravity from which there is no escape.

Referred to as "the godfather of Taiwanese cinema", the films of director Lee Hsing (who passed away in 2021 at the age of 91) combined Western realism with the neo-Confucian ideals advocated by the nationalist government in Taiwan. Director of a number of masterpieces, presented here is the film he considered his personal favourite of all his films--and certainly his most successful-- Execution in Autumn .

Since his childhood, Pei Gang ( Ou Wei ) has been spoiled by his rich grandmother who raised him after the death of his parents. Unable to control himself, in a fit of rage, Gang kills a pregnant woman -- who indicated him as the father of her unborn child -- and her cousins; for this he is sentenced to death, and will be beheaded in autumn, the traditional season for executions. His grandmother tries to save him, but this proves to be a task beyond her means. So, she makes him marry the young Lian ( Tang Pao-yun ), an orphan raised within the family, in prison, so that the Pei line does not die out.

Featuring a screenplay by Chang Yung-hsiang (who also wrote another Lee Hsing masterwork, Beautiful Duckling ), Execution in Autumn comes to Blu-ray (from a 2K restoration) for the first time ever as part of the Masters of Cinema series, in time for its 50th anniversary .

Mondo Macabro presents HOTEL FEAR - The world Blu-ray premier of a classic Italian thriller.

The story takes place in Italy towards the end of World War Two, in a run-down hotel by the shores of a large lake. A strange assortment of guests are staying there. They seem to be either suffering from mental illness, involved in scams of one sort or another, or hiding from something in their past.

Rosa, a teenage girl played by Leonora Fani, works with her mother, Marta, trying to keep the hotel functioning. Due to the war and the frequent bombing raids that take place, the hotel is on its last legs and even finding food for the guests is a major problem. Rosa writes letters to send to her father who is off fighting in the war. Rosa's mother dies unexpectedly, and suddenly the girl finds herself at the mercy of the sexually rapacious and insane hotel guests. After a vicious rape, Rosa despairs. She calls on her absent father to avenge her. And it seems her call is answered when the guests die violently at the hands of a masked, gloved killer. But who really is this mystery assassin? And is Rosa losing her grip on reality?

This was director Francesco Barilli's second feature film, after the highly regarded PERFUME OF THE LADY IN BLACK. Due to distribution problems the film has been hard to see. It has never been released in the US before and this is its world premier on Blu-ray.

A new 4K restoration of the classic crime thriller which helped to popularise the Italian Poliziotteschi subgenre, inspired by the social unrest and criminality in 1970's Italy. HIGH CRIME, directed by ENZO G. CASTELLARI (Kill Them All and Come Back Alone, The Inglorious Bastards), now available on DVD & Blu-ray in the UK for the first time.

Vice-Commissioner Belli (Franco Nero) is investigating a series of crimes committed by a drug-running gang in Genoa. He approaches the apparently reformed old-fashioned gangster Cafiero (Fernando Rey) for information on the new gang in town, not knowing that Cafiero plans to take care of them himself. Belli's boss, Commissioner Aldo Scavino (James Whitmore), takes a dossier to the DA on the possible Mafia connections of the gang but is intercepted and the dossier stolen. Belli is forced to step up as the Commissioner and must fight to defend his family from threats by the criminals, before learning of a deal in Marseilles where he may have a chance to take down the underworld organisation once and for all.

Aliens have long integrated themselves among the human population to the point that they are physically indistinguishable, except for their uniquely pointed ears; a physical trait they go to great lengths to hide or have surgically altered in order to fully blend into human society. Lemro, an alien, has found his calling on earth working as a private investigator. One day a beautiful and mysterious woman visits his office and shares the story of a mysterious disc shaped artifact which has the potential to destroy the human race, begging for Lemro's help in preventing such devastation. Initially uncertain if he should take the case, Lemro quickly finds himself embroiled in an intergalactic drug smuggling ring hellbent on turning every human into a mindless junkie. Putting his investigative - and martial arts skills - to the ultimate test, Lemro begins a deadly fight to smash the drug smuggling operation while racing against time to unlock the secret of the mysterious disc before it is too late.

Part sci-fi, part neo-noir, part action movie, and a pure passion project for all involved, Alien Private Eye is a genre-bending powerhouse of gut crushing fight scenes and neon fueled, hazy atmospherics. Starring actor and professional kickboxer Nicholas Hill (credited as Nikki Fastinetti ) and directed by future TV writer Vik Rubenfeld (credited only as Viktor), Alien Private Eye has remained mostly unseen since the days of VHS and makes its world Blu-ray debut from Vinegar Syndrome, featuring a brand new 4K restoration from its original camera negative.

A Fistful of Dollars

Link Here

A Fistful of Dollars is a 1964 Italy/Spain/West Germany action western drama by Sergio Leone
Starring Clint Eastwood, Gian Maria Volontè, (Italian, English version) and Marianne Koch BBFC link 2020 IMDb

Originally cut in the US for an 'M' rated theatrical release. The US cut version was further cut by the BBFC for an X (16) rated 1967 cinema release and it seems the same version was released again in 1981 for an 'AA' rated cinema re-release.

A slightly extended UK Theatrical version was released on pre-cert VHS in 1983 and 15 rated VHS in 1987. Uncut and 15 rated in the UK since 1999.

Meanwhile in the US the film was released uncut and MPAA Unrated on 1988 VHS. An R rating was obtained for the uncut version in 1994 and applies to all subsequent releases.

The original British theatrical release had about 4 minutes cut by the BBFC. Many closeup shots of bloodied faces and bodies (including the body of Chico) were removed, as well as a shot of Ramon dripping blood from his mouth. The main cuts, however, were to the beating up of Eastwood, which lost a hand stomping scene, and extensive cuts to the assault on the Baxters' house which was cut to shorten the overall sequence by removing all shots of men on fire, and the shooting of Consuela Baxter. (The cut version removes the shot of her falling backwards.) The 1999 MGM video and DVD releases are fully uncut and the same as the USA DVD release.

Summary Notes

Drifter gunman Joe (Clint Eastwood) arrives in the Mexican village of San Miguel at the border of the United States of America, and befriends the owner of the local bar, Silvanito. Joe discovers that the town is dominated by two gangster lords: John Baxter (Wolfgang Lukschy) and the cruel Ramón Rojo (Gian Maria Volontè). When Joe kills four men of Baxter's gang, he is hired by Ramón's brother Esteban Rojo (Sieghardt Rupp) to join their gang. However, Joe decides to work for both sides, playing one side against the other.

The film that started it all...the genre of "spaghetti western" was born, "The Man with No Name" was introduced and the iconic talents of star Clint Eastwood (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, High Plains Drifter), director Sergio Leone (For a Few Dollars More, A Fistful of Dynamite) and composer Ennio Morricone (Navajo Joe, Death Rides a Horse) were launched. An instant international phenomenon, this hard-hitting epic stunned audiences with its violence, gritty realism and tongue-in-cheek humor. A lean, cold-eyed, cobra-quick gunfighter (Eastwood) arrives in a grim and dusty border town where two rival bands of smugglers terrorize the impoverished citizens. Though he receives lucrative offers of employment from each gang, his loyalty cannot be bought. He accepts both jobs...and sets in motion a deadly plan to destroy the criminals, pitting one against the other in a series of brilliantly orchestrated setups, showdowns and deadly confrontations. Co-starring Marianne Koch (Night People, The Devil's General) and Gian Maria Volontè (Face to Face, Lucky Luciano), A Fistful of Dollars is the western taken to the extreme.

In 1989, filmmaker Barry J. Gillis and friends renewed the world's faith in Canada with the horror brainbomb known as THINGS. But that was only the beginning. WICKED WORLD is not only Gillis' 1991 follow-up to THINGS --it's also a new form of genre anarchy.

Grant Ekland ( Gillis ) is a cop who is haunted by the death of his girlfriend at the hands of a psychotic slasher named Harold. When Harold is released from an asylum, there's only one option for Ekland: revenge! Filled with metal riffage, gnarly ultra-violence, and experimental techniques, WICKED WORLD feels like what would happen if Salvador Dali injected acid directly into his brain while staring at a Cannibal Corpse LP cover. This is a highly personal treatise on the toxicity of society from one of the most singular filmmakers in trash-horror history.

Romper Stomper - Deluxe

Romper Stomper is a 1992 Australia crime drama by Geoffrey Wright.
Starring Russell Crowe, Daniel Pollock and Jacqueline McKenzie. Melon Farmers link  BBFC link 2020  IMDb

Passed 18 uncut by the BBFC for 1982 cinema release and home video. However the film was banned by Glasgow Council for screening at the 1993 Glasgow Film Festival.
UK: Previously passed 18 uncut for strong violence, sex and language:

Promotional Material

Featuring a young Russell Crowe in a knock out early performance, ROMPER STOMPER is a gritty Australian urban thriller highlighting the danger of scapegoating and racial prejudice. With its skinhead protagonists and violent motif, the movie walks in the shadow of productions such as Alan Clarke's MADE IN BRITAIN and acted as a precursor to later work like AMERICAN HISTORY X and THIS IS ENGLAND.

Hando (Crowe), the psychotic leader of a gang of marauding neo-Nazi teenagers, begins a relationship with the epileptic Gabrielle, but though they at first make a good team the courtship soon turns abusive. Though Gabrielle has designs to take Hando away from his life of crime and destruction, his indoctrination into a racist world viewpoint seems all-consuming.

Hard-hitting and at times cruel, this sadistic drama bleeds with unpalatable truths and difficult to face up to notions of culture, identity and working-class disintegration.

Promotional Material

When former Shaw Brothers executive Raymond Chow founded rival studio Golden Harvest in 1970, he quickly teamed up with "Jimmy" Wang Yu -- Hong Kong's first kung fu superstar and formerly Shaw's biggest box office draw. Bringing over his peerless talent for taking on all foes with one hand tied behind his back, Wang wrote, directed and played the title role in one of his most unmissable kickass classics. From the legendary star of One-Armed Swordsman and The Chinese Boxer comes... One-Armed Boxer !

Yu Tian Long (Wang) is the best fighter to come out of his local martial arts school, but when he crosses the ruthless leader of a local crime syndicate, the big boss' brutal bevy of deadly killers make mincemeat out of the school and everyone inside. Now the only survivor of the massacre, and short of one appendage, Yu is gifted a powerful elixir that promises to give him the strength to take swift revenge on the army of assassins, each representing the most lethal forms of fighting from across the Eastern hemisphere.

Proving once and for all that you only need five fingers of death to get the job done, Wang would later reprise his role in the infamous sequel Master of the Flying Guillotine , but it's the dementedly inventive original where he's arguably at the height of his powers.

A host of familiar genre faces including Hal Holbrook ( Creepshow ), Rutanya Alda ( Amityville II: The Possession ), Julia Montgomery ( The Kindred ) and Lauren-Marie Taylor ( Friday the 13th Part 2 ) rounds out the cast of this gloriously mean-spirited slice from the slasher golden age, Girls Nite Out !

The students of DeWitt University are preparing themselves for a night of fun and frolics in the form of an all-night scavenger hunt. Little do they know that they are in fact the ones being hunted... An unhinged assailant, disguised in the college's goofy bear mascot outfit -- and bearing knives for claws, two years before Freddy donned his famous gloves -- is stalking the campus hellbent on carving up co-eds.

Originally released under the only marginally more appropriate title of The Scaremaker , Girls Nite Out is a decidedly singular slasher flick which comes on like a frenetic cross between Animal House and Friday the 13th -- veering from jovial frat antics to jarringly disturbing scenes of the killer shrieking obscenities as he slices up his victims. On this nite out, no one is coming home!
