Obsessions is a 1969 Netherlands / West Germany by Pim de la Parra. Starring Alexandra Stewart, Dieter Geissler and Tom van Beek.
Cut by the BBFC for 1970 cinema release. Uncut and MPAA Unrated in the US.
Promotional Material
The obscure film OBSESSIONS (aka A HOLE IN THE WALL) was directed by Dutch artsploitation auteur Pim de la Parra and co-produced by longtime collaborator Wim Verstappen (BLUE
MOVIE). This gritty, psychedelic Hitchcockian mystery, which is notable for being the first Dutch film shot in English-language, starts in a savagely brutal fashion.
When a bloody painting of Vincent van Gogh falls from a wall and exposes a makeshift
peephole, student protagonist Nils Janssen (played by the film's German co-producer Dieter Geissler) becomes an unwitting witness to a gruesome sex crime next door. When his young fiancée Marina (Alexandra Stewart of Truffaut's DAY FOR NIGHT), an
enterprising journalist, tells him about a report of a murder that she is writing, he naturally wonders if it's the very same killing.

A torture sequence has been greatly reduced. We no longer see a pipe cutter being used on a

After being accused of crimes he did not commit, a lonely circus performer exacts

This film stands out for having one of the most entertaining and brutal opening 15 minutes. It is a montage of gruesome killing and the audience gets to see every gory moment; there is no fast
cutting away at the crucial moment.
The only downside to having such a cool beginning is that the film shows its hand early which means suspense goes out of the window as the viewer is desensitised from this point in. The
film then has to keep feeding visual candy in the form of gore. It succeeds well; this film must have one of the highest body counts for a slasher movie

After being forcefully inducted as a soldier into war in
14th century Japan, his wife and mother remain living in a swamp. They eke out their living by ambushing worn-out warriors, killing them and selling their belongings to a greedy merchant. The woman comes to mistrust her daughter-in-law who has coupled up
with a deserter, and begins to wear a facial mask she has taken from a slain samurai. Soon the mask will not come off again. In this disguise she is at first taken for a demon by her daughter.
The ensuing drama is a tale of their
sexual tension in the high summer heat, which is exemplified by the swaying of the reeds/grass, the faster the reeds blow in the wind the higher the sexual tension.
Shindo also uses Black and White to stunning effect at a time
when it was probably easier to film in colour. This is a Cinematic Masterpiece!

The first heavily cut sequence is the battle in the chop-shop, when Mark Dacascos' hero takes on a group of thug mechanics. Not only have several body blows and weapons usage been trimmed, but an entire character - the blow-torch wielding villan -
has had his minute long segment removed. The cuts are obvious and the scene looks choppy.
The final showdown between Dacascos and the main bad guy (Paco Christian Prieto) is missing a number of martial arts moves, including repeated kicks,
punches and a headbutt. This last cut is particularly obvious.

A young opera singer (Betty) gets her big
chance when the previous star of a production of Verdi's Macbeth is run over by a car. Convinced the opera is bad luck she accepts, and becomes the target (in Argento's unmistakable style) of a psychopath - a man she has been dreaming of since childhood.
One of Argento's most dizzying works but also one of his most enjoyable. This being Argento's ninth giallo, he knew all the conventions inside out, so he plays with them mercilessly, using flashbacks, jump
cuts, juxtapositions in a captivating way.

Oppenheimer is a 2023 UK/US historical biography by Christopher Nolan Starring

Uncut by western film censors but the film was cut in India for nudity.
Summary Notes
The story of American scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer and his role in the
development of the atomic bomb.
India: Cut in July 2023
India's film censors have made cuts to a nude scene in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer. Florence Pugh's naked body and breasts have been blacked out
with a CGI mess supposed to indicate a black slip.
Pugh plays Oppenheimer's girlfriend Jean Tatlock, to whom Oppenheimer briefly returns for an assignation during his later marriage. She functions in part as a device to introduce the audience to
Oppenheimer's interest in Hindu mythology -- and in ancient Sanskrit texts such as the Bhagavad Gita , which form the foundations of Hindu religious narrative.
At one point during their love--making -- mid-huff, mid-puff -- Pugh-as-Tatlock rises from
Oppenheimer's body to trawl his bookshelf, picks up a copy of the Bhagavad Gita and clambers back onto her lover's midsection as she opens it and begins to read aloud. Thus the film introduces a line which is now core to Oppenheimer's personal legend:
Now I am become death, the destroyer of worlds.
There were calls from religious groups to remove the references to hindu mythology. Uday Mahurkar is one of India's two information commissioners. He condemned the sex scene as waging a war on the
Hindu community. If Nolan did not remove the scene, he insisted, it would constitute a deliberate assault on Indian civilisation.

The film's plot, script, and
acting are only average, but the film is buoyed by some sizzling chemistry between Jolie and Banderas. Their sex scenes are extremely memorable, so make sure you get an un-edited version (unrated).
This is an interesting
movie for a few reasons. As stated above, the sex scenes are among the best ever filmed. It is also novel to see a film about a man who is actually obsessed about his own wife. I personally could identify with Banderas in his willingness to give up
everything for woman he knows he cannot trust. Heck, it happens to the best of us.

behind Bobby's murder. This is when Gino's hunt for Madano leads to the showdown of a lifetime.
With this entry Steven Seagal and director John Flynn delivered one of the most enjoyable action thrillers from the past 15 years. Out
For Justice also show cases one of the best martial arts bar room brawl fight scenes ever put to film. Seagal in his day was hugely popular simply because his movies were violent and he was enjoyable to watch as he snapped arms, legs and anything else
that came his way.
The film was cut for violence in the US so as to obtain an MPAA R rating. The cuts were reportedly made to the finale:
cuts to Gino shooting a thug in the kneecaps
reductions to the death of Richie with a corkscrew
54s
86:41s
UK: Passed 18 after 54s of BBFC cuts for:
1991 Warner VHS
The BBFC cuts were:
The pre-credits sequence showing Gino (Seagal) beating-up the pimp is missing (9 secs) of Gino smashing the pimp's head through the side window of his car and throwing him over some trash cans.
The deli ambush is missing a single close-up
shot of Gino pinning a thug's hand to the wall with a meat cleaver (1 sec). Resulting in the rearrangement of footage to accommodate the edit.
The fight in the pool hall has lost (8 secs) of Gino wrapping-up a cue-ball in his handkerchief - the
BBFC clearly trying to disguise this makeshift weapon - resulting in the loss of the following dialogue: ...there's only two things stopping you - fear and common sense...and I'm gonna cut your fuckin' head off
The raid on Gino's home
has been cut, deleting (7 secs) of Gino wrestling with an attacker and shooting him point blank in the head.
The final showdown in the kitchen between Gino and Richie (William Forsythe) is missing (26 secs). Gone is the sequence in which Richie
attacks Gino with a knife, only to have his wrist snapped, then a rolling pin, which Gino takes away and proceeds to club him with, after putting Richie's head through a window.
An alternatively edited version has been shown on Sky and Channel 5 which included all of the above footage. However, this was done at the expense of other cuts.

This slasher, in which the victims are girls in the telephone sex business, gave the BBFC a lot of problems. Four murders were trimmed, and virtually all the dirty talk over the phone was removed. The censor even removed a five second shot showing a
bondage photo next to a telephone, and 11 seconds in which the killer puts a carrot into a victim's mouth.
The Outing - 1987 USA horror by Tom Daley See The Lamp
Various shots of Mok Siu-Chung and Frankie Chan breaking into cars were excised. Guess the BBFC didn't want potential car thieves to get any ideas.
After the scene in the nightclub there's a scene where Mok Siu-Chung and Sharon Kwok are
attacked by a gang. We lose the shots where Sharon pulls a balisong (butterfly knife) out of her bag, twirls it and uses it against the attackers.
A close-up shot of Frankie Chan breaking into a house with a lock-picking kit was cut.
A
sequence where chickens are thrown at the baddies to disarm them was cut for animal cruelty.
The Outsiders is a 1983 USA crime drama by Francis Ford Coppola. Starring C Thomas
Howell, Matt Dillon and Ralph Macchio.
Exists in two versions, a originally PG rated Theatrical version and a 12 rated Complete Novel version. The BBFC uprated the Theatrical version from PG to 12 in 2021.

After a few test screenings, the film was cut by Warners, because it was feared the audience would not appreciate the movie's runtime. However the shortening harmed the film and the extended Complete Novel Version is much better,
especially as the extra detail improves the finale.
