Perennial whinger Rajan Zed is urging Saint Petersburg based Mookhomor microbrewery to apologize and not use Hindu deity Lord Ganesh's image on its White Illusion IPA beer, calling it highly inappropriate. Zed, the president of Universal Society of
Hinduism, said that inappropriate usage of Hindu deities or concepts or symbols for commercial or other agenda was not okay as it hurt the devotees: Lord Ganesh was highly revered in Hinduism and he was meant to be
worshipped in temples or home shrines and not to be used in selling beer. Moreover, linking a deity with an alcoholic beverage was very disrespectful.

A Catholic school in Nashville, Tennessee has banned the Harry Potter series because a reverend at the school claims the books include both good and evil magic, as well as spells, which, if read by a human can conjure evil spirits, according to the
Tennessean. The publication obtained an email from Rev. Dan Reehil, a pastor at Saint Edwards Catholic School parish, which was sent to parents. In the email, Reehil explains in the email that he has consulted several exorcists in the U.S. and Rome,
and it was recommended that the school remove the books, the Tennessean reports. |

Perennial whinger Rajan Zed has taken aim at a restaurant chain in Switzerland selling beef burgers and naming itself Holy Cow. Zed said in a statement that cow, the seat of many deities, was sacred and had long been venerated in Hinduism.
It appeared to be a clear trivialization and ridiculing of a deeply held article of faith by Hindus world over. Hinduism should not be taken frivolously. Symbols of any faith, larger or smaller, should not be
mishandled.
Zed urged Holy Cow! Gourmet Burger Company (HCGBC) to rethink about its name so that it was not unsettling to the Hindu community. |

About 20,000 people in the US have signed a petition calling for the cancellation of Good Omens , the television series adapted from Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman's 1990 fantasy novel. Unfortunately they addressed their petition to Netflix
when the series is made by Amazon Prime. The six-part series was released last month, starring David Tennant as the demon Crowley and Michael Sheen as the angel Aziraphale, who collaborate to prevent the coming of the antichrist and an imminent
apocalypse. But Christians marshalled by the Return to Order campaign, an offshoot of the US Foundation for a Christian Civilisation, disagree. More than 20,000 supporters have signed a petition in which they say that Good Omens is another step to
make satanism appear normal, light and acceptable, and mocks God's wisdom. They are calling on Netflix to cancel the show. The publisher and science fiction critic Cheryl Morgan tweeted: Miraculously God has
already done it. Don't tell them She put it on Amazon instead.
Update: Netflix see the funny side 21st June 2019. Thanks to Wynter

Buckling under pressure from enraged Christians, DC Comics has announced that it's pulled the plug on a planned series called Second Coming , in which Jesus returns as a superhero. About 233,000 people signed a petition saying:
Can you imagine the media and political uproar if DC Comics was altering and poking fun at the story of Muhammad -- or Buddha? This blasphemous content should not be tolerated. Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
His story should not be ridiculed for the sake of selling comic books. The plot summary for the first issue, previously sated for March, said: Witness the return of Jesus Christ, as He is sent
on a most holy mission by God to learn what it takes to be the true messiah of mankind by becoming roommates with the world's favorite savior: the all-powerful superhero Sun-Man, the Last Son of Krispex!. But when Christ returns to Earth, he's shocked to
discover what has become of his gospel 203 and now, he aims to set the record straight.
The writers will now offer the series to other publishers. |
